SCOPE
Cleanroom HVAC and filtration
Cleanroom HVAC in Malaysia carries a humidity load most reference designs assume away. We size for the climate you are actually in.
INCLUDED
Included
- Air handling unit selection and sizing
- Terminal HEPA and ULPA filtration
- Fan filter units and plenum layout
- Air change rate and recovery time
- Differential pressure scheme
- Temperature and humidity control
WHERE IT GOES WRONG
The air change rate you design to sets the energy bill for the life of the room. Specifying one class tighter than the product needs is the most expensive mistake available, and it stays invisible until the first full year of operation.
HOW THE AIR IS SIZED
What sets the air volume
Air volume comes from whichever of these is largest, not from a rule of thumb.
- Air change rate for the class. The class sets a floor. As a rough order of magnitude, ISO 8 rooms commonly sit in the region of 10 to 25 air changes per hour, and ISO 7 rooms two to three times that. ISO 5 zones are designed to unidirectional airflow velocity rather than to counted air changes.
- Heat load. Process equipment, lighting and people. In this climate the cooling load often sizes the plant before the classification does.
- Moisture load. Wash-down areas, reagent handling and outside air in a tropical climate. Dehumidification is a separate decision from cooling and is easier to make early.
- Pressure differential. Holding the cascade needs excess supply over extract in every positive room, commonly in the region of 10 to 15 Pa between adjacent classified spaces. The leakage path has to be known before that number means anything.
