Supplements and food
A halal cleanroom in Malaysia has a second layer of requirements on top of the classification, and segregation is the hard one to add later.
Most supplement and food production runs at ISO 8, with higher grades where the product is exposed. See the full ISO 14644 limits →
Surfaces, moisture and drainage
Food plants are classified more loosely than pharmaceutical facilities but are far harder on the surfaces. Wash-down is routine, drainage runs through the clean side, and the preparation rooms generate their own moisture load on top of the climate. Designing segregation in from the start is much cheaper than retrofitting it.
- Registered health supplements in Malaysia are regulated by the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency and manufacturers require GMP certification.
- Halal certification is issued by JAKIM, with MS 1500 applying to food and beverage.
- Halal requirements cover segregation of lines, storage and transfer routes, which is a layout decision, not a paperwork one.
- Food premises are separately subject to Ministry of Health requirements.

Halal segregation in Johor and the southern corridor
Food and supplement plants in Johor, Senai and Pasir Gudang usually carry a halal requirement alongside the classification, and the two are far easier to satisfy together than one after the other.
A good share of work in the southern corridor is new build on a new site. That removes the shutdown problem and replaces it with an authority submission timeline. Start the submissions early. They rarely sit on the critical path until suddenly they do.
We supply cleanroom systems, materials and project coordination for food and supplement facilities in Johor and across southern Malaysia.
